so i like to go through my old posts every once in awhile to see what i used to write about.  this is what i've taken out over the past few years of posts:
  1. i'm pretty much the same person as i was my senior year of high school
  2. my xanga persona is much more witty than my real life persona
  3. i post entries when i don't want to study
  4. eprops might as well be cash to me
  5. i'm an ass
at our optometry school we have finals coming up, and it's currently our "reading week."  4 whole days off with no instruction, meant to give us time to prepare and study before examinations begin.  what.  the.  hell.  is.  this.  do they really expect us to be studying?  i've never had a reading week before, and although my grades are nothing to be proud of, i can't see myself studying for more than a few hours a day.  granted, it's only the second day of reading week.  i suppose there's still time for me to kick it up into hardcore study mode early in this reading week.  but alas, if history is any indication (and often times it is), it tells us all that it's not likely to happen until the last day.

life is about balance, is it not?  i'm a believer in that.  over the weekend, i decided that my proverbial see-saw of life needed some balance.  you see, for a good portion of october, it was weighed down by school.  academics became the "fat bully kid on the playground," if you will.  i figure this time was as good as any to put some weight on the other side of my figurative fulcrum.  that's right - you read that correctly.  i said figurative fulcrum.  let's proceed to some highlights from my weekend.
  1. karaoke with friends that i haven't seen in awhile.  yes, that means i've gone karaoke-ing 2 weekends in a row.  who does that you say?  golden pipes wong, that's who.
  2. oliver peoples sale at south coast plaza.  i bought my first pair of legitimate sunglasses this weekend.  legitimate in the sense that they aren't ones you get at a supermarket for under $15, and also in the sense that i didn't take them from a bin of donation frames at my optometry office.
  3. take out rigatoni D from maggianos.  eff you, you dimly lit, over crowded, need to tip, have to dress to impress dining room.  i'm calling in my pasta order and crusing in with flip flops and a t-shirt to take my dinner elsewhere, e.g., some place more comfortable, e.g., my house.  the D in rigatoni D must stand for D-licious.  or it could stand for D-on't bother looking for me in the D-ining room, since i D-ashed the heck out of there because it's so D-amn D-imly lit and i have to D-ress somewhat nice.
  4. guitar hero: world tour.  i went with janet to pick up her pre-ordered copy at 9am sunday.  played until 1230 without skipping a beat.  watch out for the Popsicle Sticks coming to your local house of blues soon.  (side note: being good at guitar hero doesn't make you a good guitar player in real life.  i've come to realize that.  i've yet to be convinced that being able to drum on video games won't make you a good drummer in real life.  thus, i kinda want a drum set.)
  5. disneyland and california adventure with friends (same from #1, above).  ice cream: check.  HSM3: senior year - right here, right now!: check.  spelling out the word "lame" with our arms in the tower of terror photo and directing it towards gross women in our same elevator in retaliation for them forming a human chain to cut in front of us in line: check.
take that, fat bully kid!

what the hell happened to xanga?

no joke, it took me 5 whole minutes to figure out how to enter a new post.  since when did xanga have a homepage?  what's with the 1000x more complicated layout?  it's been a long time i guess.  but i gotta keep true to xanga.  because nothing can beat eprops.  NOTHING.

i guess there are a few things that i felt compelled to record via the interweb, to figuratively shout out at the top of my lungs for everyone to hear and i don't care who knows it.  let's go.
  • just give the american idol award now to david archuleta.  the kid can sing.  and i get emotional.
  • i can't stand joel meyers.  seriously, why did paul sunderland have to get fired?  he's twenty times the play by play broadcaster than joel "i ball wash kobe and the lakers" meyers.  sure, meyers may have the resume, but sunderland has class and doesn't come off like a douche bag.
  • the jabbawockeez p.y.t. routine was ree-dic-you-luss.  no holes in it.  none.  i'm 23, and i still wish i can be cool and dance.  watch it.
  • i get geeked over watching kevin love play.  what can i say.  i'm a sucker for sound fundamentals and high 'basketball IQ."  nothing like a smart, efficient, unselfish, and hard working player.
  • super mario galaxy daredevil comets are the most frustrating things this side of texas.
  • we've only had our front loading energy and water efficient maytag washer for about 2 years, and it's currently out of order.  a maytag repairman is coming tomorrow to service it.  so hey maytag repairman, they call you "ol' lonely" eh?  "never have anything to do with your days," you say!?  lies.  lies!  your advertisements are all built atop a loosely packed soil ground of lies.
  • shortbread girl scout cookies are my favorite.  and i think i'm alone on this one.  anyone with me?!
  • and why is this look so popular amongst ethnically ambiguous athletes and singer/actors?

(clockwise from top left) american idol season 1 finalist justin guarini, nba player anderson varejao, stanford basketball player robin lopez, wwe superstar carlito, disney channel superstar (chicken-) corbin bleu.

and what the heck.  let's throw this one in for good measure:

female comedian wanda sykes.

write it down so you can remember.

6-8 page paper due today.  i have about 3.  no better time to update my xanga than now.

tournament starting today.  my big upset pick in the first round: no.12 long beach state over no. 5 tennessee.  just you watch.

somebody please give me a convincing argument as to why michael jordan is the greatest dunker of all time.  i can provide an argument as to why not in just two words: vince carter.

my face is always so oily.

guilty pleasure #303: drinking the left over soup from ramen noodles.  200% daily recommended value of sodium, 2000% delicious.

successfully completing a surgery on trauma center for nintendo wii convinces me that i could make a decent surgeon.  even after having to retry 3 times.

EDIT: so tennessee ties a first round record by scoring 121 points and slaughters long beach state.  sigh.

3:11am.
  1. "last christmas" has to be one of the top 5 best christmas songs ever.
  2. how does akon continue to dominate the radio airwaves?  or, more importantly, how does he continue to find work?
  3. my schedule for next quarter is looking pretty good.  finally, an easy winter quarter!
  4. i'm jealous of justin timberlake and his sweet sweet dance moves.  have you seen the video for "my love?"
  5. being able to watch "the office" episodes on the internet is a beautiful thing.
  6. i think it's time for new shoes.
  7. if chick-fil-a had meals closer to $4, i would eat there at least once a week.
  8. after using justinwx2 for 7 years, i will begin using justinwx24 for no apparent reason.
  9. jk about number 8.
  10. it took too long to think of 10 things to write.

you know what really grinds my gears?  the fact that we live in a society that gives rihanna's "unfaithful" serious radio time.  that it's broadcasted to millions because people think it's a good song.  seriously, have any of you listened to that mess of a song?  is it good because people relate to the lyrics?  i really hope not, but it can't be because the singing is impressive.  people, c'mon now.  c'mon.

you know what makes my tastebuds jump with joy?  red apple jelly bellys.  it has this tartness and explosion of fruity flavor that tingles my brain everytime i eat one.  try it.  you will become a believer.  a believer in what, i don't know.  but believe.

unbeknownst is a word that i would like to use more often.

that's it.

EDIT:

ok so i remembered something else i wanted to say.  there's this dancer on the tv show "so you think you can dance."  his name is james.  but he spells it jaymz.  J-A-Y-M-Z!!  are you kidding me?!  sigh.  oh, dancers.  the reasons why they do the things they do are unbeknownst to me.  (i don't think i even used it right)
